Rock Solid Contracting Brings Bitter Sweet Dream Home to Reality
Last summer Dan and Beth Atkins of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania started planning for a timber frame retirement home in Thompson Falls, Montana. While on their way to the Treasure State to meet the local builder, the couple received a devastating phone call indicating that their PA home was on fire.09
The couple caught the next flight home.
Unfortunately, they returned to find their primary residence, boat, vehicle, camper along with all of their invaluable personal possessions destroyed in the blaze.
PA Site Selected for Bitter Sweet Dream Home
Through this utter devastation, the steadfast couple prevailed. Armed with a glimmer of hope, Dan and Beth found a way to bring light to a dark, despairing experience when they chose to build their Montana dream home in Pennsylvania instead.
The couple enlisted local Timberhaven representatives, Sean Lease and Zack Lease of Rock Solid Contracting, for help. Sean and Zack worked directly with the Atkins and Timberhaven’s corporate office to design the home and to finalize the custom materials needed to complete the rebuild. The Rock Solid team understood the fact that Dan and Beth needed a home – and they needed it now – so they were also hired to provide construction services for this one-of-a-kind project.
Bitter Sweet Dream Home Details
The single-level conventionally constructed home has 2,200 square feet of living space plus an attached two-car garage. Small outdoor living areas were incorporated into the front and rear of the home. Its exterior was finished with kiln-dried log siding while the garage was finished with complimentary Board & Batten.
On the inside, Tongue & Groove paneling was installed on the ceiling, and several timber frame decorative accents were incorporated throughout the design.
Zack Lease reports, “We are very excited to see this home come together for our wonderful customers. It’s an honor to be part of their project, and helping to restore what the fire so tragically stole from them last June has been a humbling experience.”
In the end, the Atkins found a way to turn an unfortunate situation into a bitter sweet blessing – and we couldn’t be happier for them. On behalf of everyone at Rock Solid Contracting & Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes, thank you for allowing us to be part of your project, Dan & Beth. We are honored to have played a small role in your bitter sweet dream home.
