Bringing Log Home Dreams to Fruition
Timberhaven is bringing log home dreams to fruition! In fact, Scott DePanfilis and Terry Jamro are proud Timberhaven log homeowners. We caught up with them recently and wanted to share their story and beautiful dream log home with you.
When did your log home dreams take root?
Our experience started in 2004 in central Pennsylvania. By chance, we drove by a model log home designed by the future Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes. We both agreed right then and there that we wanted a log home in the future. It became our dream, and we slowly worked at getting “there” through the years.
How did you decide what your new log home would look like and where it would be built?
We fell in love with Timberhaven’s Aspen Hill II design because the A frame is reminiscent of a weekend get-away to a ski resort in the mountains.
We also needed a place to build our dream log home. It was a real challenge finding an affordable property that was on a hill, wooded, private, with a water feature (impossible) in Southern New Hampshire. We were also looking to downsize. We accomplished this goal!
In what ways did you research manufacturers and options?
In 2017, we attended a Log Home Show. By chance we met Timberhaven sales representatives from New Hampshire, Ed and Kathy Higgins. We were invited to their log home in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire where they answered all of our questions and walked us through the buying experience. Also, Ed and Kathy recommended an experienced local contractor to build our log home. We were thoroughly impressed with the contractor’s knowledge and experience and ability to hire and work with all required subcontractors necessary to complete our log home build!
We also attended one of Timberhaven’s Log & Timber Home Planning Seminar. After visiting their manufacturing location, we were convinced Timberhaven was the best in the business. A Lifetime Warranty on their manufactured products and a Premium-Grade Engineered Log System had us sold!
Now that you’ve been in your log home for a few years, what areas of the home do you most enjoy?
The Great Room! We look out the great room windows and admire all the trees, wildlife, and little river at the edge of the property. Plus, we love the open concept kitchen/great room and being able to admire the inside and outdoor views. What’s even better is being able to share with family and friends when they visit. Even after living here for two years, we still have the “wow factor” feeling every time we come home.
Do you have any recommendations for future log homeowners?
Personally, we wish we could have owned our dream log home sooner, but everything we experienced getting here was for a reason. Opportunities made themselves available, and we went after them without hesitation. Research is the key! It is never too early to start — not only researching the types of log homes (logs vs timber framed) and floor plans but researching land/towns earlier to get a better understanding of the best land for your future log home. Another learning curve for us homeowners: When picking out a ceiling fan to be mounted in the great room cathedral ceiling, be sure to get a fan with a remote control! <insert chuckle here>
Scott and Terry, sincere thanks for sharing your story and your beautiful log home with us and future homeowners. Bringing log home dreams to fruition — that’s what we do here at Timberhaven. Thank you for choosing us to be part of your journey.
