In the lower-Hudson Valley in Chester, New York, sits a magnificent 150-acre estate crowned with a magnificent hilltop mansion known as Glenmere. The Glenmere was one of America’s finest country homes, once host to royalty and leading artists. More recently, the Glenmere was reborn as a premier luxury hotel, superb restaurant, wedding venue and glamorous spa. Located less than 50 miles from New York City, the Glenmere welcomes affluent guests, even A-list actors and actresses. Today, an 11,000 square foot, two-story Post & Beam events center, that was designed and manufactured by Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes, is being erected in a meadow near the mansion. Fred Krol, Timberhaven’s local dealer who covers the local area where the Glenmere is located, served as the sales representative for this magnificent commercial project.
The colossal footprint for the Glenmere Events Center is 76’ x 146’. The barnlike cathedral structure features (10) 44’ wide custom-designed heavy timber trusses. The structural configuration of each truss required (16) steel gusset plates fastened to the timbers by (130) 7” bolts to secure the pre-cut timber joinery. The collective weight of the (10) trusses, steel plates and bolts is equivalent to approximately 12 tons! A grand porch entry was also added that features heavy timber trusses and rafters along with 6’ x 10’ custom designed sliding barn doors. Overall, this massive building required (9) separate trucks to deliver all the required materials.
The opulent Glenmere Events Center is still under construction and is scheduled to open its doors later this spring.
On behalf of everyone at Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes, we would like to thank the Glenmere Mansion property owners, Fred Krol, and the dedicated support staff who brought this project to fruition. We are truly elated to be part of the impressive Glenmere Events Center.
