Small Log Cabin – Under Construction: Part 13
Log cabin interior construction for Jack and Bob is in full swing. Electrical utilities have been established at the home so the guys are thoroughly enjoying the warmth of working indoors and no background noise from the generators.
Log Cabin: The Loft
Inside, the shed dormer provides the height in the ceiling needed to maximize space for an additional bedroom and a loft/study on the second floor of their home. The construction of said loft has been finalized and the 2×6 pine tongue and groove flooring has been installed. The 1×8 tongue and groove with ¾” tongue and groove sheathing (referred to as composite flooring) is our standard second floor materials, but the 2×6 pine tongue and groove that Jack and Bob used is an option in our log cabin packages.
Whether it’s getting lost in a good book or relaxing with friends and family when they come to visit, this quaint space will undoubtedly prove to be one of the most trafficked areas of the home.
Temporary platforms have been removed. For the first time, Jack and Bob get a good feel for the openness of their home….and they love it!
Log Cabin: Interior Walls
The interior walls have been framed and electrical has been installed. The next step is to apply finished wall coverings. As standard in all packages, Timberhaven Log Homes supplies 1×8 White Pine tongue and groove for all interior walls, unless requested otherwise by the homeowner. As shown here, this interior wall needs a few additional pieces of tongue and groove but installation is nearly complete.
Log Cabin: Exposed Heavy Timbered Stairs
Not only are Jack and Bob working without generators, they also eliminated the need for ladders with installation of these beautiful White Pine stairs. It’s starting to feel like home…
The components of these heavy timbered exposed stairs include 4×12 stringers and 4x pine treads. These items are specially milled by us in our manufacturing facility, and if selected for your log home design, are included in your Timberhaven log cabin package.
Additionally, the components of the loft railing – 4×4 posts, 2×4 railings, and balusters – are also specially milled just for you and provided as a standard in our packages.
What’s included in my log cabin package?
When shopping for a log home, it’s important to ask: What is included in my log home package? Not all log home kits are created equally and the time to figure out what materials you will be receiving in your new home is NOW…not on your jobsite. Timberhaven will tell you exactly what we are including in your package, and sometimes more importantly, what’s not included in the price of the package that you will need to supply yourself. We promise you won’t find a more complete package than ours, but we urge you to ask the question.
The house is looking great. You guys are doing a super job…!
