Our Log Home Manufacturing Process
Quality log homes, log cabins and timber frame homes that are built to last, start with the manufacturing process. From the harvesting of the tree, to the milling, kiln drying and precutting of the logs, Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes takes great care to ensure we are implementing the necessary steps throughout the log manufacturing process to protect your investment.
Manufacturing – Forestry:
Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes believes that to be the best you must start with the best, and Timberhaven starts with only the finest timbers, primarily Eastern White Pine harvested from across the Northeast of the United States. Here the forests grow slower giving a denser, stronger wood that we use for the finest log homes and log cabins. We work closely with companies that employ sound forestry management techniques as part of Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes ongoing dedication to sustainable log home building.
Manufacturing – Kiln Drying:
The process of kiln drying controls the amount of moisture in the wood products used to build your custom home. Timberhaven offers a true non-settling system, and to do that we must carefully and properly kiln dry the logs down to an average of 19% moisture content or lower. We do this using a dehumidification process that stabilizes, sanitizes and dries the logs for your log home, timber frame home or log cabin. Manufacturing – Precutting:
Every log is cut to an exact fit in a log home or log cabin by Timberhaven (including the solid log gables). We do this to make the construction of your log home or log cabin easy. Individual logs are carefully inspected before, during and after each process of the precutting, and the log is then marked with an alpha-numeric code that corresponds to detailed engineered drawings. This ensures no costly miscuts in the field.
Manufacturing – Shipping:
The specialty logs for your Timberhaven log home, log cabin or timber frame home will be tarped, in addition to all materials wrapped in protective plastic, and ready for delivery promptly on the day of your choosing. Each pack will be clearly marked and corresponds with our detailed materials list to tell you exactly where each part in that pack goes within your custom home. This ensures that packs are not unnecessarily opened during construction that could leave them susceptible to damage.
